For me, the winter is the hardest time of the year to stay productive and keep my routines, I’m not sure if it’s because of the earlier evenings or the colder days, I think this January the lockdown hasn’t hugely helped. I’ve put together a few tips here which I’m trying to apply to my day to day life that I thought might be helpful if you’re in the same situation.
Keeping a routine
This one seems pretty straight forward but it’s usually the first thing I fall out of during the winter months, Keeping a routine helps me so much day today, I can often slip into habits of waking up at 12 and just watching TV until 5 which is fine if you need a rest of course but for me that routinely doesn’t make me feel good, I feel my best when I’m productive, I’m slowly trying to get myself back into a routine of waking up earlier and making sure I’m having each meal and keeping a routine with my self-care.
Keeping a to-do list each day
I find for me, this is one of the best ways to get things done. I put every task for the day on there whether it’s taking my vitamins, writing a post even if I want to call someone. I tick each one as I go along and I feel like it gives me such a sense of achievement. I’ve created a little printable which.
Some days it’s likely you won’t manage it all and it’s absolutely fine if tat’s the case, Simply take that time for yourself and try again the next day. You can’t pour from an empty glass.
This is something which helps me and I recommend trying it if you’ve got a stressful day ahead it might help to just take a moment to sit down and write about everything and sort of getting it all out before you crack on, It leaves me feeling clear-minded and I think it’s worth taking up, I got my journal from Paperchase last year, I think this one’s similar (link similar journal paperchase)
Create some small habits to keep you feeling your best
I find I’m at my best when I’m in good mood productivity-wise. I mean I’ll still get things done if I’m feeling low to a degree but I enjoy it more when I’m feeling good about it. I chatted in a recent post about the little habits I’m bringing into 2021 to keep me feeling my best. I also read a book called ‘feel better in 5’ which focuses on small habits and I finished that book in a night because I was just so interested by it. The book is mainly to do with healthy habits so things that may improve your mindset and general health but in a short time frame of dedicating 5 minutes to that task which makes it feel less overwhelming, which is exactly what I needed and if you’re looking for that kind of thing I really recommend it.
Do you have any tips for staying productive in the winter?xx
